The
first hole at Waterville is called ‘The Last easy’, so if
you make a bad start don’t anticipate on things getting better!
Waterville is a monster of a links course and one of the longest Championship
Courses in Europe. It is remote course of natural beauty located on a
strip of land between Lough Currane and Ballyskellig Bay.
In terms of high esteem many say the back nine are as good as it gets
which only goes to show why the likes of Tiger Woods have used this course
as a stepping stone before taking part in the British Open.
It boasts a wonderful peat fired clubhouse that serves the finest fresh
seafood along with the finest pint of Guinness - an extensive collection
of old golfing photographs and memorabilia graces its interior. Whilst
outside alongside the 18th is a commemorative statue of the late Payne
Stewart who’s affection for this course was renown worldwide. .
