Designed
by Arnold Palmer, this visually stunning course has to be one of the toughest
in Ireland - indeed many high handicappers’ rate it too difficult.
But with views to die for and a track as individual as they come, this
mighty champion continues to entice many a bold challenger.
There are many memorable holes and an uncontested view that the back nine
are the best in Ireland – ‘created by God’ exclaimed
its designer.
The fearsome might of the Atlantic, that can be heard from every hole,
is also readily appreciated with the emotively named 16th – Shipwreck.
It has an elevated tee overlooking part of a coast described as ‘the
graveyard of the Spanish Armada’
Many are awestruck by this exceptional course and it will continue to
impress until the end of time.
