You’ll
be hard pushed to find a more dramatic course to see or play than Old
Head of Kinsale.
Set on a huge rocky peninsula carved out from the relentless claw of the
Atlantic, it is in fact a wonder that the course is still joined to the
mainland.
Opened for play in 1997, it is already being mentioned in the same breath
as Pebble Beach and according to Joe Carr, one of the designers, in golfing
terms it has the potential of being the eight wonder of the world.
With fierce unpredictable winds and 250ft cliff top fairways, advice is
to be on top of your game – crampons and ropes are not provided
in the clubhouse!
