Overlooked by the 12th Century Church
of St. Marnock, Portmarnock links is probably Irelands most famous course
if you take in to account some of the illustrious competitions played
here.
Designed by Bernhard Langer and associate Stan Eby they have crafted a
classic golf links cleverly invoking the spirit of its ancient past. Clues
to this past lie around every corner, with marks scored on the tee markers
to commemorate the local druids.
Although renowned for its relatively flat fairways and greens this is
by no way a detraction of its defences as it has devoured many a great
professional.
Whether beaten or tamed the list of plaudits only ever grows with each
visiting player.
